Not only are non-native English speakers adopting another language, they are typically learning content through this foreign medium while encountering its metalanguage. Hence, our authors flag the fundamental importance of genre.

    Although this is only the third issue of the International Journal of English for Specific Purposes (IJESP), we are already bidding farewell to our esteemed Chief Editor. After a distinguished career, Dr. Roger Nunn is stepping down and we wish him well. Rest assured that he has chosen his successor carefully: “On my retirement in June after 46 years in academia, I am delighted to announce that the Associate Chief Editor, Dr Tanju Deveci, has agreed to take over as Chief Editor. The current team of talented reviewers and editors will remain in place, while I move into an advisory role..."
